David Payne is an experienced leader and has worked for the University of Oklahoma for almost 20 years. He is currently the Assistant IT Director overseeing Athletics Department operations and he directs Athletics related technology strategies and initiatives. He has served as a member of the Advisory Board and steering committee with other sports technology professionals for the Sports and Entertainment Alliance in Technology – SEAT. He helped lead the first stadium deployment of 802.11 AX (full stadium WiFi 6) in the world. He has overseen the development of a singular CRM, business intelligence and data analytics platform, various infrastructure projects, and regularly gets the opportunity to integrate some of the latest technological tools being used in the world of sports and entertainment. David considers himself a learner for life. He often shares his favorite quote by a philosopher named Eric Hoffer – “In times of drastic change, learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.”
